Rule #38. Every day is a whole new set of possibilities.
You’ve had a bad day before. We all do. In fact, Monday was a bit rough for me this week. I’ve had worse. Having a bad day sucks; nobody enjoys it even if we understand what’s making it a bad experience. But do you know what happens, most of the time? We do the best we can, hit the sack, and wake up the following day to discover that things are better. Maybe not perfect, but better. On a bad day, we’ll run into obstacles, illness, dead-ends, and problems. But when we wake up the next day, we press that great cosmic reset button. New opportunities present themselves, new people walk into our lives, and the next great adventure might be right around the corner. That’s why we can’t let one bad day stop our progress; the next day might be amazing, because every day is a whole new set of possibilities.
Don’t let a bad day defeat you. Good things could be waiting right around the bend. Even when things seem dark, the next morning could bring some much needed sunshine into your life. There’s no telling what possibilities a new day will bring your way, and there’s only one way to find out; face the new day!
Every opportunity started out as just a possibility. Every new friend, every lover, every windfall, and every victory all started out as a possibility. Sure, there’s always going to be some bad stuff along the way, and we already know that any path worth traveling is going to have obstacles. We simply have to take the bad with the good, overcome the obstacles, and approach each new day for what it is; a whole new set of possibilities.
Rules for Intrepid Living” is a weekly post giving guidelines for how we can all live a bit more of an intrepid life.
Agreed. Bad days come and go, but when we face them, remembering God is with us, we can do all things. And during those bad days, we grow into a stronger person if we allow ourselves to trust in Him. This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Thank you for your post.
Yep. And sometimes bad weeks too, but again, eventually new possibilities arrive that can lead to good weeks.
What a great rule! This post reminds me of one of my favorite quotes, “In the hour of adversity be not without hope, for crystal rain falls from black clouds” – Nizami
I like that! It has taken a lot of work for me to come around to having a positive outlook, so I have to remind myself frequently not to give up, be cynical, or fall into a negative mindset!
